What Travel Adapter Do You Need In Greece?

Planning a trip to Greece? You’re probably occupied by things that directly impact your vacation, like figuring out when is the best time to visit Greece. As exciting as it is to be swooned by thoughts of beachside drinks, time in the hotel pool, and indulging in Greek meals, it’s important to figure out what you need on the actual trip. Can’t wait to take photos of you and your loved ones? You’ll need to keep your phone charged and ready to go. Unfortunately, there’s a chance that your power brick won’t work in Greece, especially if you’re coming from outside of Europe.

Greece uses Type C and Type F electrical outlets, which are standard across most of Europe. These sockets specifically accept plugs with two round pins. The country operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz frequency. Simply put, if you’re coming from the United States or Canada, your plugs and outlets won’t work in Greece.

How Do I Charge My Devices In Greece?

If you’re a casual traveler, you probably don’t care about what electrical outlets a country like Greece uses. You just want simple solutions so you can enjoy your Greek trip. Essentially, all you need is a universal travel adapter. This is an all-in-one solution that works in multiple countries, including Greece. Most modern universal travel adapters come with USB and USB C ports.

Don’t want a universal travel adapter? Don’t fret. Universal adapters are bulky and can take up precious space in your bag. Instead, just get a European adapter. They’re a simple, compact choice that converts your plug to fit Type C or F outlets. If you’re only visiting Greece or other European countries, these European adapters are sufficient.

Important Tips For Travel Adapters In Greece

Remember, an adapter allows your plug to fit into Greek outlets. However, they do not convert voltage. Most modern electronics like your phone, laptop, or AirPods are dual voltage and can handle Greece’s 230V. However, be sure to check your devices’ labels or chargers to be sure. For any non-dual voltage devices, such as hair dryers or electric shavers, you’ll need a voltage converter in addition to an adapter. A lot of travel adapters can’t handle heavy-duty products like hair dryers or irons. This shouldn’t really be a worry, however, as your hotel or Airbnb probably has these items.

Be sure to pack at least two adapters. Having multiple travel adapters during your trip to Greece will allow you to charge multiple devices simultaneously. Plus, if one adapter gets lost or damaged, you’ll have a backup to keep your phone charged. Your best bet is to purchase a travel adapter before you go to Greece. Of course, it’s easy to forget to buy things, which is why you can find adapters at Greek airports or tourist shops.
